The Professional Crossroads....

- A Little About Me -

I've been a creative person for as long as I can remember.  I still think of the first song I ever wrote - it was about a red robin.  One day, I'll remember enough of it to write it down again, just for posterity.

My first introduction into music was when I remember hearing the radio and the DJ's.  I just knew: "That's what I want to do!"  I began drum lessons when in 3rd grade, but finances prohibited my continuing them and definitely prohibited getting any kind of "real" drum kit.  I settled for a recorder and learned a little about music with it.

Years went by and I never had, nor made, the opportunity to pursue my real desire.  Finally at about 20, I hooked up with a few guys and "Don't Walk" was formed.  At first, we were not good at all, but as time went by, we got really good!  We played some parties, some picnics and the like, but mostly jammed on the weekend and every other spare minute we could find.  After a few years, we worked on a few originals, but never were able to complete them.  As the old song goes...."Those wedding bells are breaking up that old gang of mine."  Here is a few cover tunes we actually got down on our very primitive equipment: Proud Mary, I've Just Seen A Face, I'm Down, Johnny B. Goode, & Honkey-Tonk Women  Unfortunately the recordings really don't do "Don't Walk" justice, but it's all I've got from a time gone past.  I hope you enjoy it.

- Where I Am - Where I'm Going -

From these beginnings, the seeds of creativity have been sown and have begun to flower.  After Don't Walk disbanded, I continued on with my music and creativity.  I've worked with a number of musicians over the years on various projects and have performed at many live events.  I have written numerous songs that are just now emerging into the public eye, hopefully to be performed by everyone at some point or another.  I've completed 1 novel and am currently working on 3 others, along with other writing projects.  If you need some copy or other creative material, please feel free to call.  All original production work on my pages are for hire.  Call me at 954-275-1600 or drop me a note for details.  My goals are set, and the course has been laid out.  My intent is to be able to provide songs and stories for use in all facets and genres of music, and for my stories to be read and made into movies for the big and small screen.  Please visit my pages often, as they will continually be updated with new material and content in the months to come.

The intimate story...

David Robert Mohr was born in New Haven Connecticut in July of 1962. Being interested in music and stage from a very young age, David has performed on stage and with bands first starting in 4th grade where he had the lead role in the play: The Crab That Played With The Sea. David assisted the teacher in creating and arranging several of the songs used in the play.

David wrote his first song in the 3rd grade about a robin. The inspiration for the song came after hearing from a then famous film. His love moved more toward the musical side of the entertainment world from that point on. He acquired his first drum kit while in 3rd grade and began to take drum lessons and progressed rapidly. He joined a drum group being offered by the local Fire department while living in East Haven, but was unable to continue any of the lessons due to financial set-backs. David continued to teach himself the drums, using anything he could find, including phone books and oatmeal containers.

Continuing to cultivate his love for music, David continued delving deeper into songs analyzing their lyrics, melodies, backing vocals, harmonies & instrumentation. Learning dozens of songs and following the charts he found he was able to pick new songs that would be hits.

As life would have it, many years passed before he was able to connect with the right people. Forming a band called “Don’t Walk” David was the lead singer and drummer. The band went on to cover many songs by many artists paving the way for development of his talent. As years passed, David found himself in and out of a few bands looking for the right combination. During this time, he found himself doing more and more writing, but not being able to put his songs to music. Not finding help with the musicians surrounding him, David decided it was time to branch off on his own and learn an instrument other then the percussive ones while continuing to improve his voice.

During a personal tragedy, David found himself out in Texas for a short time where he re-connected with an old band mate. They started another band where David was again the drummer and lead singer. After much convincing, encouragement & the gift of a guitar (and a promise to learn to play it) from that ole band mate, David left the drum kit and set out to learn the guitar, thus making it possible for him to put music to the lyrics he has been creating.

In addition to writing and composing music, David has also written novels & short stories. David continues to showcase his talent through out the cities in which he lives and travels. He can always be found with a song in his heart and a tune echoing through his lips.

David has performed as a DJ on WZTA & WKPX in Fort Lauderdale, has performed at festivals & venues ranging in size from 2 to 2000 persons.

David maintains internet presence with several different pages and social networks. You can stop by his main production company page at: www.lightningnotes.com where you'll find some of his original music, original Novels & short stories and more information & links to the many facets of David's creative life.
